  • The Salvation Army 27 Acre Street GL5 1DR (map)

COMMUNITY SCREENING
The community around the Salvation Army hall in Acre Street hosts an uplifting screening of the acclaimed true story Dream Horse. Inviting both horseracing fans and those simply seeking an underdog tale with heart, this crowd-pleasing film follows Welsh bartender Jan Vokes, who recruits her working class village to help breed and raise an unlikely racehorse champion.

Starring Toni Collette and Damian Lewis, Dream Horse celebrates a community coming together behind an improbable dream. Despite knowing little about horse racing, Jan and her neighbours dare to take on the London elite with their working class horse who wasn’t bred to race. Through passion and perseverance, their long-shot quest takes thrilling twists on its way to a nail-biting climax. Funny, moving, and filled with performances as bighearted as the story itself, Dream Horse has been called a “fist-pumping crowd pleaser for the ages.”

Did you know that horses are part of the local history? - Acre Street and Chapel Street were historically homes to many stables,.
